Copy of the bio that appears alongside my Echelon Productions profile:

In 1997 I discovered the need for pitch control to beat match the music I was mixing. With turntables I soon learned that movement between songs was essential to create a compelling, dynamic mix tape. I look for mix transitions that encourage closer examinations and a deeper understanding of music. Additionally, the mixes of mine that are most successful are ones that create music. Which means they convey an idea or theme or feeling that is beyond the original source material. This is not to say that a straight compilation, with gaps between songs, cannot be expressive. Placing songs together in a sequence allows momentum to develop. If you can carry that wave of all the way to the end without it toppling over than the mix can work. Every track counts. Mixes that have influenced me include those by Matthew Herbert, Gilles Peterson, Jesper Dahlback and, early on, LTJ Bukem, Blame and Seba.
